OPERATION RIGHT HAND

“If I forget you, Jerusalem, let my right hand forget (its dexterity). Let my tongue cleave to my palate if I will not remember you, if I will not bring to mind Jerusalem during my greatest joy!” Psalm 137

Since MBKI’s inception in 2005 our mission has been to come alongside inner-city and rural schools and kindergartens that serve poor and working poor families. We provide supplemental budgets to educators to fill the gaps that are not being filled by collecting fees from single parent households. Reports from our partner educators from Jerusalem, rural Judea and Israel’s border communities is depressing. The children can’t learn on-line because they can’t afford internet access in their apartments and or don’t have computers. The most upsetting issue during this pandemic is not only are children hungry, so are their families. In normal times, the children would come to school and receive a catered hot, meat based lunch. These aren’t normal times and the government has not successfully opened the schools since the pandemic hit.  

Ma and Pa small shops can no longer afford to pay rent and their family businesses that have been around for generations are closing. Middle class workers have been sidelined and for the first time in their lives are relying on government subsidies and unemployment benefits that barely make ends meet. Hard earned savings are being used just to pay mortgages and rent. Thousands of Israelis are falling below the poverty level. Israelis are suffering.

OPERATION RIGHT HAND will begin in Jerusalem and move out to Judea and the periphery (Gaza/Egyptian border, Jordan Valley and Northern Border).

OBJECTIVES:

• Purchase tablets and laptops for students in an inner-city Jerusalem elementary school and a rural girls elementary school in Kiryat Arba/Hebron
• Provide operational grants that cover the costs of educational activities, supplies and equipment for our partner kindergartens
• Subsidize the purchase and delivery of catered hot lunches
